RUBBISH DAY
What a success this coffee morning was! Pride of place was the huge yellow recycling vehicle from Harrogate Borough Council parked on the Methodist church car park by two very smart operatives who spent all morning explaining the councils recycling operations.
Also to welcome the visitors was a very colourful display of plants from Tidy gardens who had sold out by lunchtime. Chris Wardle SIB member had a hands on stall making ladybird houses, many of these will find a home on the school allotment.
Inside there was a warm welcome as the Anchor Boys Brigade served coffle with an
excellent cake stall. The craft activity corner had everyone making snails and flowers
from waste material from Taylors factory and captain Rumage the pirate was there
explaining how all the waste from Taylors can be made into treasure and encouraging
groups to supply ‘rubbish’, inkjet cartridges ,stamps & mobil phones to convert to
‘treasure’ -
There were displays by Starbeck in Bloom, HBC and Handprints which all the many visitors enjoyed. We were delighted to welcome the Mayor & Mayoress of Harrogate and also our MP Phil Willis and his wife.
A GOOD MORNING AND ALL ABOUT RUBBISH!
